The way things are now, West Virginia’s nursing shortage has become a substantial beast of its own convention. In less than 10 years, the state’s current shortage will be the worst it’s seen in history, and it couldn’t have come at a more devastating time.

A significant part of West Virginia’s populace is over 65 years of age. In 15 years, that populace will comprise 25% of the state’s residency. That puts the state’s health system on high alert since research has shown seniors require unique health care, and we’re just not sure what impact an insufficient nursing workforce will have on that type of health care. At the very least, we can suspect it won’t be what’s needed.
