Over 13 million jobs make up America’s health care industry. In as little as six years, the industry will have generated a few million more. Amazingly, Minnesota will need over nine thousand RNs in just five years — especially in its rural areas. Although Minnesota’s rural areas have a higher need for qualified nursing professionals than any other area, the entire state demonstrates a great demand for home-health nurses, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants.
If that weren’t enough, the state additionally needs a significant number of nurse educators and practitioners to replace the ones who will retire when the recession ends. Minnesota’s population is not only growing older, it’s living longer as well, placing an even stronger strain on the state’s health care quality for the elderly.
If the state doesn’t get a hold of a sufficient number of qualified for Nurse Educators, Home Health Nurses, Nurse Midwives, and Nurse Practitioners, Minnesota’s long-term health care will severely fall short of what’s required to stay health.
